Your Essential Guide to Profhilo® Non-Surgical Facelifts

Your Essential Guide to Profhilo® Non-Surgical Facelifts

As men and women age, their skin loses its firmness and youthful lustre, resulting in what aesthetic medicine specialists call ‘skin laxity’. This loosening and drooping of the skin is a major effect of the ageing process. Many people find it’s particularly noticeable around the jaw and mouth, where jowls, fine lines and wrinkles easily develop.

If you’re unhappy with the condition of your skin and would like to achieve a younger-looking appearance, you might assume a surgical facelift is your only option. However, that’s far from a straightforward course of action, especially given the hospital stays, use of general anaesthetic and long recovery periods that surgery entails.

Thankfully, there’s a new, effective alternative to going under the knife: Profhilo®, a non-surgical facelift. We’re delighted to offer this innovative treatment, specially designed to combat skin laxity, to clients at our private clinic in Exeter. By rejuvenating your skin and boosting your natural beauty, Profhilo® has the potential to be life-enhancing. In 2015, it won the Anti-Ageing & Beauty trophy for ‘Best Skin Enhancement Device’ at the Aesthetic & Anti-Ageing Medicine European Congress.

Profhilo®: Your Questions Answered

When you’re interested in booking a cosmetic treatment, it’s only natural to want to ask questions and find out as much about the treatment as you can. As a starting point, we’ve created this guide to Profhilo®, packed with helpful information.

Who Created Profhilo®?

Profhilo® was developed by IBSA, a pharmaceutical company with expertise in the production of hyaluronic acid, an essential substance for maintaining skin’s elasticity.

How Does the Treatment Work?

The levels of hyaluronic acid found in people’s bodies decrease as they age, which has detrimental effects on the skin, contributing to it looking older and drier.

Profhilo® contains stabilised hybrid complexes of hyaluronic acid, which reduce signs of ageing by hydrating, rejuvenating and supporting (or ‘lifting’) the skin. The treatment therefore provides an effective, non-surgical facelift (also called a liquid facelift).

Profhilo® employs a technique called ‘bioremodelling’ (which refers to its ability to tackle skin laxity), making it a powerful, pioneering anti-ageing treatment.

What Part of the Face Is Treated?

Profhilo® focuses on the lower third of the face, because that area is particularly prone to suffering from skin laxity.

How Is It Administered?

Profhilo® is administered by injection, using the Bio Aesthetic Points technique, which has been developed to reduce the number of injections and sessions required.

There are only five injection points on each side of the face, selected to encourage the spread of the hyaluronic acid. The aim is to maximise the benefits while minimising the number of injections.

Who Administers It at DermaShine?

At our clinic, Profhilo® is administered by Dr Faizan Irshad, a highly skilled specialist in aesthetic medicine who trained in London’s Harley Street.

Are Many Sessions Needed?

You can expect to see results after just two sessions, with a one-month interval.

Is the Treatment Painful?

You’re unlikely to experience pain and should see relatively little inflammation or bruising.

What Results Can I Expect?

Profhilo®’s natural-looking results include firmer, more radiant and suppler skin. The treatment reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles (even deep ones).

You can see photos of the results on our Profhilo® treatment page.

How Long Will the Results Last?

Profhilo® has long-lasting results – skin looks younger for approximately six months. The treatment can then be repeated so you can enjoy wonderful-looking skin again!
